How Freeze Frame works
Freeze Frame starts the first time an Altered Camera — “a tripod-mounted camera that freezes anything caught in its lens” — catches you (AllThings.How). For most players that is the Watchtower in Central, to the right of Zoe (Gamer Guides).
- Photos first: each zone has two Instant Photos, usually on a table in an FBC office. Each shows the spot where one camera stands.
- Approach from behind: walking into the lens freezes Dylan; the camera then vanishes and respawns. Every camera has a route that ends behind it — a hatch, a drop, a back door.
- Close it: use Shut Camera Lid (L1 on PS5). Each contained camera raises that zone’s level.
- Tools you need: Shift, Reach, Levitate and a fire ability (Ignite or Inferno) for burnt-through passages. Come back later if a route looks impossible.
All 14 cameras at a glance
| Zone | Camera 1 | Camera 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown | Dense Patterning building (Gravity Town) | FBC portable office by the Chasm |
| Central | Watchtower, under Zoe’s office | Warehouse rooftop |
| Evacuation Zone | South of the Sinkhole | Railyard street billboard |
| West Incursion Zone | Rooftop north of the Parking Garage | Window-washer platform by Pulse Fitness |
| The Park | Nomad Avenue Station | Eastern rooftops (power-core elevator) |
| Underpass | Island east of the vendor | Island south of the Tubes |
| Unknown | Wear ’Em & Wash ’Em laundromat | Northeast construction site |
Downtown cameras
Dense Patterning: from the Gravity Town fast travel point, Shift into the gravity-shifted building, use the anomalies on the roof, then Ground Slam the hatch to drop in behind the camera.
FBC portable office near the Chasm: carry a charge cube (power core) across three rooftop Reach points to power the relay that unlocks the office’s rear door, then walk in behind the camera.
Central cameras
Photos: on the office tables in the room with the outfit closet.
Watchtower (under Zoe’s office): take the Underground Supply Route, drop through the hole in the floor, Levitate up through the ceiling openings and come out in the corridor behind the camera.
Warehouse rooftop: reach it through the parking lot of the neighbouring white building. Let the camera freeze you once, go down into the warehouse (Field Command Level 1 keycard), clear the Hiss waves, then reverse the route to come up behind it.
Evacuation Zone cameras
Photo: in an elevated FBC portable office — interact with the printer.
South of the Sinkhole: a timed power-core relay. Carry the charge through several cubes and platforms, recharging at the stations on the way, to unlock the rear door before the timer runs out.
Railyard street billboard: let it freeze you, enter the building, ride the elevator up and come out behind it. Grab the “Master of Many Minds” TV recording on the way.
West Incursion Zone cameras
Photos: both on the folding tables in the House of Mirrors FBC base.
Rooftop north of the Parking Garage: Shift across the tilted-gravity roof and Reach to the platform above, then drop down behind the camera.
Window-washer platform by Pulse Fitness (near the Museum of Curiosities): grapple up the floating platforms, jump across the road barriers and land on the platform above and behind the camera.
The Park cameras
Photo: in the FBC base — break through the ceiling to drop inside.
Nomad Avenue Station: go down into the subway, burn the web or door with a fire ability and follow the red-door corridor that ends behind the camera.
Eastern rooftops (south sewer exit): carry a power core to the exterior elevator on the west side, ride it up, then glide and dash across the platforms to land behind the camera.
Underpass cameras
Photo: on tables under the covered stalls near the fast travel door.
Island east of the vendor: a gravity-reversed structure. Reach onto its underside, walk to the hole and drop through behind the camera.
Island south of the Tubes: reach the floating platform with a glide and dash, or follow the red path and Shift down; drop carefully through the hole to land behind it.
Unknown cameras
Photo: on the map table in the Patterned Field Office. You need Pope’s Research progress first — see how to get around the Unknown.
Wear ’Em & Wash ’Em laundromat: let it freeze you, leave by the back, open the garage door from outside, wait for the camera to respawn and walk in behind it.
Northeast construction site: go down the lit staircase into the Mold-covered basement, clear the Mold enemies so the barriers lower, and come at the camera from the left.
The Downtown finale
With all 14 closed, return to the plaza in Downtown. Frozen FBC agents stand surrounded by cameras on balconies, walls and platforms. Shut them one by one, always from behind. “If any camera spots you, the objective resets and the layout changes” (AllThings.How).
- A tripod camera at the start.
- One on top of a green structure.
- One on a high concrete wall ledge.
- One on a platform with yellow markings.
- The last in the central courtyard, in front of the frozen agents.
That is Nerdschalk’s five-stop route. Slow down, wait for each lens to turn away, and use elevation — the cameras look outward, so coming from above is usually safe.
Reward and Panopticon Intern
Reward: the Untapped Shiny Pebble Artifact — “During a Gravity Anomaly, it gradually replenishes health to a maximum of 50%” — plus materials. Craft it at the Artifact Formation station in the Gap.
Panopticon Intern (Silver, “Contain Altered Items and help Langston”) needs all six Altered Item side stories:
| Side story | Where it starts |
|---|---|
| Panopticon Service Request | Talk to Langston, right of the encampment outside the Field HQ in Central |
| The Complete Set | Speaker and flyer outside the Frontline Construction site, far southwest Central |
| The Party Won’t Stop | “Singing Reported?” marker, west side of West Incursion Zone |
| A New Directive | The Unknown |
| Into the Valley of Death | Downtown, the Oldest House |
| Freeze Frame | The first camera that freezes you, usually the Central Watchtower |
Update 1.4.0 fixed A New Directive failing to start or progress when a polaroid camera caught you, and the Panopticon Service Request cell door opening too early. If either quest stalled for you, update and reload — see the 1.4 patch notes.
Conflicts between sources
- Finale size: Nerdschalk counts five camera stops; VGTimes describes seven sequential groups; AllThings. How says the layout changes after a reset. Expect the count to vary.
- The Park, second camera: VGTimes places it at the south sewer exit, AllThings. How on the eastern rooftops; both use a power-core elevator, so it is most likely the same camera.
- Panopticon Intern: Nerdschalk shows the trophy popping as the last lid closes, which is what happens if Freeze Frame is your sixth Altered Item story.
Checked against four written guides on October 6, 2026. We have not walked every camera ourselves; zone landmarks may be named differently on your map.
Camera locations FAQ
How many cameras are there in Control Resonant? Fourteen in the Freeze Frame side story: two in each of the seven zones, each matched to an Instant Photo found in that zone. A final group of cameras then waits in Downtown.
How do you close a camera in Freeze Frame? Get behind it without stepping into its lens and use Shut Camera Lid. If it sees you, Dylan freezes for a moment and the camera disappears and respawns, so you have to find a route that ends behind it.
How does Freeze Frame start? It starts the first time an Altered Camera freezes you (AllThings.How). Gamer Guides points to the Watchtower in Central, to the right of Zoe, as the usual first trigger.
What is the Freeze Frame reward? The Untapped Shiny Pebble Artifact, which slowly restores health up to 50 percent while you use a Gravity Anomaly. Each contained camera also raises that zone’s level, and the quest counts toward the Panopticon Intern trophy.
What does Panopticon Intern require? Panopticon Intern (Silver) asks you to contain Altered Items and help Langston: finish Panopticon Service Request, The Party Won’t Stop, The Complete Set, A New Directive, Into the Valley of Death and Freeze Frame.
