How New Growth starts
New Growth opens during Zoe’s Briefing at the Watchtower, which unlocks after The Hedron Link. The first objective is Ask Around About Underhill. PowerPyx says you can also start it from the soldier by the fast travel door at the FBC Base on the Park rooftops. Reach that roof by powering the elevator, or through the northeast sewers.
Zoe’s Briefing also unlocks Maintenance Protocol, so you can run both in the same trip.
Finding Underhill
- 1. Talk to Busken at the FBC Base. The objective becomes Investigate Underhill’s Last Known Location.
- 2. Head south over the rooftops to her research camp. Search the desk for the Level 6 Keycard, her Resignation Letter and Underhill’s Hypothesis.
- 3. Fast travel to the Oldest House: Central Executive. Open the Clearance 06 office and take the Welcome Letter and Underhill’s Apartment Key.
- 4. Back in the Park, follow the marker through the orange Mold tunnels to her building (PowerPyx: upper right of the Park). Go up a floor and take the first door on the left.
- 5. Talk to Underhill in the kitchen. Take the Key to Underhill’s Sewer Lab from the counter. PowerPyx readers note that the lab door won’t open without it.
The sewer lab
Leave the building, go underground, turn left at the crossing and open the lab door. In the ante-chamber crate is Power Upgrade Point 3/3. Read the Response From Pope, take the Mold Growth Stimulator and the sample tubes, then drop over the railing to pick up the trail. The objective changes to Track Down and Defeat the Test Subjects.
Specimens A, B and C

Each one drops a Mold Sample Test Tube. Fire damage works well, so Ignite or Inferno helps. If the map loses the trail, PowerPyx says to look for the cloud icon with an exclamation mark. After the last kill, Zoe tells you Emily Pope has ordered Underhill detained. Go back to the apartment.

AllThings.How says the choice only decides Underhill’s fate, with no follow-up scenes. PowerPyx doesn’t list a choice at all, which fits that. Rewards: Untapped Brass Dusters (a weapon form recipe), +1 Talent Point and the lab’s Power Upgrade Point.
Carbon Copy and Budding Mycologist
The Silver Budding Mycologist trophy needs New Growth and all three parts of Carbon Copy. Players who finished only one of them report the trophy not popping. Carbon Copy opens after New Growth has started. Talk to Heidi (pink jacket) in a building in the middle of the Park.
- I: find her twin Hannah in the apartment south of Heidi, entered from the roof, then report back.
- II: after a call from Zoe (it can take a while), talk to Dr. Florez at the field office, find Hannah in the medical unit and take the file from the bed.
- III: check the apartment roof, meet Heidi by the Power Core Station in the north of the Park, and fight the molded Hannah behind the door.

New Growth FAQ
Which New Growth choice should you pick? Any of them. AllThings.How lists three endings for Dr. Underhill (report her, let her leave, or hand her the samples) and says the rewards are the same for all three. The choice only decides her fate.
How do you start New Growth in Control Resonant? It is added after Zoe’s Briefing. PowerPyx says you can also pick it up from the soldier by the FBC Base fast travel door on the Park rooftops.
Where are Specimens A, B and C? A is in a caged enclosure in the deep sewer cavern, B in an underground courtyard and C in a back alley reached over the rooftops. B and C can be done in either order. Fire works well against all three.
Why didn’t Budding Mycologist unlock? The trophy needs New Growth and the full Carbon Copy questline (I, II and III). Carbon Copy starts with Heidi in the Park and only opens once New Growth has started.
