Unlock time and pre-load
The Steam unlock is 2:00 PM GMT on September 24, the same instant as every other platform, rather than midnight in your local time zone. Pre-load opens 48 hours earlier, on September 22.
PC pre-loads have to be triggered manually in the Steam client — the download will not necessarily start on its own. With roughly 104 GB to fetch and a 120 GB SSD requirement, starting it early is worth the click.
What the Steam version includes

The differentiators are small but real: Steam has Trading Cards and The Siblings Collection bundle, while buying on the Epic Games Store grants the Dylan Faden Outfit in Fortnite when purchased with the Epic account linked to your Fortnite profile.
Performance expectations on PC
Remedy’s official tiers put 1440p/60 on an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT with Balanced upscaling, and 1080p/30 on a GTX 1070. All tiers assume upscaling is on, and none of the quoted figures use frame generation.
Reviews of the PC version were generally positive on performance provided you use an upscaler, with the PC Metascore sitting at 83 against an all-platform 84.
DRM on the Steam version
As of September 18, 2026 the Steam store page lists no third-party DRM notice. Valve requires anti-tamper solutions such as Denuvo to be disclosed in that field, so its absence is meaningful — but it is a dated observation, not a permanent guarantee.
The original Control also shipped without Denuvo, which makes the same outcome here more likely than not. Check the store page yourself before buying if this is a dealbreaker.
Language support on PC
The game supports 15 languages in text, eight of them with full audio: English, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish (Spain). The remaining seven — Korean, Polish, Russian, Latin American Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Turkish and Ukrainian — are interface and subtitles only.
That is a significant expansion over the original Control, and it applies to the Steam and Epic versions identically.
What it costs and what you get
At $59.99, Standard buys roughly 30 hours of main story, or close to 50 if you complete everything. New Game Plus is included at launch and carries abilities over, and talents and artifacts respec freely, so a second run does not require a second purchase of anything.
The $10 Deluxe upgrade on Steam buys the artbook, soundtrack, Untapped Artifact, starter resource bundle and AWE Mission Outfit. It does not buy time — early access is PS5-only.
Pre-order rewards on Steam
Steam pre-orders grant the Hiss Corruption Outfit and the Pickpocket’s Tool Artifact. The Occult Outfit is a PlayStation exclusive and is not available here at any price.
There is no redeem-code system — the bonuses attach to the purchasing account and unlock at the end of Act 1, which regularly confuses players who look for them in the opening hours.
The GeForce NOW and NVIDIA angle
GeForce NOW supports the game from launch, which is a route in for people whose hardware sits under the minimum tier. You still need to own the game — cloud support is a delivery method, not an included subscription.
NVIDIA also bundled a Steam copy free with select RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti and 5070 hardware bought between August 25 and September 29, 2026, with codes redeemable until October 27. If a GPU upgrade is on your list anyway, check whether your retailer participates before buying the game separately.

Trading Cards are a small Steam-only extra with no equivalent on Epic — worth noting only if you care about the badge and card economy.
Should you buy on Steam or wait?
There is no announced discount schedule and no Game Pass release, so there is no confirmed cheaper route arriving soon. Reviews landed at 84 on Metacritic, which means the quality question is already answered before you commit.
The one genuine reason to wait is hardware: if you plan to buy an eligible RTX 50 Series GPU, the NVIDIA bundle can supply the Steam copy for free.
