Control Resonant Dog Toy Locations

Where the Mysterious Dog sits in each of the seven zones, where her plush dragon toy is, and the route to carry it back to her bed.

Short answer

The Mysterious Dog wants her teal plush dragon back, once in each of Manhattan’s seven zones. The first is in Downtown: take the road running northwest from the Oldest House to a rooftop garden terrace where the dog waits next to an empty round bed. Talk to her, then look east across the street for a lower building with a dog-food advert on its side. The dragon sits beside the stairwell door on the roof above that advert. Pick it up, climb back and drop it in her bed — that adds Notes: Every Dog Has Her Day to your quest log.

Every dog and toy position in this table is given by at least two of the guides listed under Sources. The Downtown encounter is also checked against PS5 gameplay footage. Where sources describe a route differently, the zone section below says so.

How the Mysterious Dog quest works

  • Finding her: once you get close, the dog is marked on the map with a white paw-print icon. There is usually an environmental hint too — a spotlight on her, or a billboard for Chowrap, the in-game dog food brand, near the toy.
  • Starting an encounter: talk to her. Dylan works out that she is missing her toy, and the empty round bed next to her is where it goes back.
  • Carrying the toy: the toy is picked up like any other object, and the prompt changes to Drop Object while you hold it. Game Rant notes you cannot fully use your abilities while carrying it, but climbing still works, and the Downtown footage shows Dylan climbing a wall with it in hand.
  • Finishing: drop the toy in her bed. On the first return Dylan asks “Hey, is this what you wanted?” and the quest banner appears; afterwards you can pet her.

The traversal powers matter more as you go. Downtown needs nothing special, but later zones lean on levitation, Reach and Shift, the gravity flip that lets you walk on inverted surfaces. Those abilities come from the Jesse Quests (see Should I Play Control Before Control Resonant?), so if a toy looks unreachable, come back once you have them.

Downtown dog toy location

Start: from the Oldest House, follow the road running northwest. The guides describe this spot in different words — PowerPyx says western Downtown in Gravity Town, GamesRadar+ says the southern edge of the zone below the early Power Core puzzle — but they agree it is the first dog most players meet. In the footage we checked, the Welcome to Manhattan story mission was still active when she was found.

The dog: she is on a rooftop garden terrace with planters, a lattice screen and a round dog bed by the railing.

The toy: face east, across the street. You are looking for a lower building with a dog-food advert painted on its side. The dragon is on the roof directly above that advert, next to the stairwell door — small, teal and visible from the dog’s terrace once you know where to look.

Getting it back: drop and float across to that roof, pick the toy up by the door, then climb back up to the terrace. Game Rant recommends unlocking Reach first but confirms the quest can be done without it. Put the dragon in the bed.

How you know it worked: Dylan asks whether this is what she wanted, a “New Quest — Notes: Every Dog Has Her Day” banner appears (about 0:49 in the Postmode footage listed below), and you can pet the dog. Game Rant reports 1x Unidentified Reading as the reward here.

Central dog toy location

Start: head for East Park Station. The dog is on a rooftop just north of it.

The toy: from the dog, look directly north. Below you is a narrow alley crossed by Hiss laser barriers. At the far end a Chowrap dog-food billboard is lit by a streetlight, and the dragon is on the ground right at its base.

Getting it back: jump down into the alley, grab the toy, and avoid the lasers on your way back up to the rooftop. Destructoid notes Hiss creatures around the alley as well as the lasers, so expect a fight. Drop the toy in the bed to finish.

Evacuation Zone dog toy location

Start: go northeast of the Sinkhole. Destructoid places the dog between the Main Street and Railway Station dimensional doors, close to a pair of Chowrap signs.

The dog: she is in a red-lit space between two buildings that fold over each other, standing on a rooftop that is upside down relative to the street.

The toy: look west — Destructoid puts it as facing the dog and looking to your left. Two mirrored Chowrap billboards face each other there, and the dragon lies in the lit area on the upside-down rooftop above them.

Getting it back: use the raised rooftops in front of the billboards as a launch point, then double jump and levitate until you can stick to the rooftop above. Grab the toy and drop back down. Destructoid says this is much easier with Reach, which it says you can get from the Fault in this zone.

West Incursion Zone dog toy location

Start: the West Incursion Zone is the region in the top-left of the world map. Make for the Parking Garage.

The dog: she is on a rooftop just west of the Parking Garage, where the city curls upward into a sheer wall. Destructoid describes her as standing on an inverted wall, so expect to look up or sideways to see her.

The toy: from the dog, face south to find another Chowrap billboard. The dragon rests on an air-conditioning unit on the rooftop to the billboard’s left, on another inverted surface.

Getting it back: use your gravity powers to stick to that rooftop and walk to the AC unit. Once you have the toy, look for the wall with a water tank on it — that is where the dog is — and carry it back to her bed.

The Park dog toy location

Start: the Park is optional and never visited by the main story. You enter it through the Park Checkpoint in the northeast corner of Central, any time after you reach Central.

The dog: she is on a rooftop at the northeast edge of the Park, near the Mold Factory dimensional door.

The toy: look east from the dog to a higher rooftop with a dog-themed billboard. The dragon is on a desk up there, lit by floodlights. That rooftop is reached by an exterior elevator, which Destructoid says is not working when you arrive.

Getting it back: go to the electricity station marked on your map and break open the breakable ceiling door there to reach two generators. Carry the electricity from the station to the generator, then from the generator to the elevator next to the toy’s building. The generators let you relay the current in stages; Destructoid notes a single run is possible, but the timing is tight. Ride up, grab the toy and take it back down to the bed.

Underpass dog toy location

Start: the Underpass is the sinkhole that leads down towards the Oldest House, and the story brings you here. Head for the Research Site.

The dog: she is high up on top of a structure northeast of the Research Site.

The toy: look straight up. A gravity anomaly holds the dragon on the ceiling directly above her, too high to reach by jumping.

Getting it back: go round to the north side of the structure. There is a raised platform high enough to reach the ceiling — Shift onto it, follow the path back around from above until you reach the toy, then cancel the inversion to drop back down beside the dog.

Unknown zone dog toy location

Start: the Unknown is the last zone the story takes you to. Fast travel to Tower Island, on the northwest island.

The dog: she is on a garden rooftop close to the fast travel point.

The toy: this is the farthest one from its dog. Look left from her to a nearby building with a billboard showing several dogs. Next to it, a “BAR” sign points downward, and the toy is on the balcony it points at.

Getting it back: Destructoid gives this route. Use Reach to get onto the water tank, then onto the billboard beside it. Walk to the end of the balcony and step onto the inverted wall ahead, which flips your gravity. Hop to the building with a skull drawn on it and stand on the beams above you. Use the gravitational anomaly again, turn right and head to the end of the building. Carry the dragon back to the garden rooftop.

The sources disagree on exactly where the toy rests here. GamesRadar+ and Sportskeeda put it on the balcony under the BAR sign; Destructoid places it on a bench by some air ducts at the end of its route. Both describe a building across from the dog. If the toy is not on the balcony, follow the route to the top of the building.

The final visit in the Gap

According to PowerPyx’s trophy guide, the quest does not end with the seventh toy. Once every zone is done, the dog shows up in the Gap, the hub you can enter from anywhere to change loadouts and buy upgrades. Talk to her there to unlock the Dog’s Best Friend trophy.

Only PowerPyx describes this step so far, and we have not seen it in footage. The other guides stop at seven zones, and Destructoid hints that the dog turns up in places you would not expect. If the trophy has not popped after seven toys, open the Gap and look for her.

Rewards, trophy and FAQ

What is the dog toy quest called in Control Resonant? Its quest log title is Notes: Every Dog Has Her Day. In PS5 gameplay footage the "New Quest" banner with that name appears the moment the first dragon toy is handed over, and the entry is filed under Side Stories. Most guides shorten it to Every Dog Has Her Day.

How many dog toys are there in Control Resonant? Seven: one Mysterious Dog and one dragon toy in each zone — Downtown, Central, the Evacuation Zone, the West Incursion Zone, the Park, the Underpass and the Unknown. PowerPyx adds that once all seven are done, the dog is waiting for you in the Gap, where talking to her unlocks the trophy.

What does the dog toy look like? A small teal-blue plush dragon, the same toy in every zone. Destructoid calls it a teal dragon, GamesRadar+ and PowerPyx a blue plush dragon, and Game Rant a blue dinosaur — they all mean the one toy.

What is the reward for Every Dog Has Her Day? Game Rant reports 1x Unidentified Reading for the Downtown toy, and the Downtown footage shows Dylan petting the dog once the toy is back. Finishing the whole chain unlocks the Dog’s Best Friend trophy or achievement, whose description reads "Gain a furry friend." Rewards for the other six zones are not documented in the sources we checked.

Can you miss the Mysterious Dog? Nothing we found says so. PowerPyx lists free roam after the story and does not include Dog’s Best Friend among the missable trophies, so any zone you skipped can be finished after the credits.

What we have not verified yet

  • Rewards for the six encounters after Downtown. Only the Downtown reward (1x Unidentified Reading) is reported.
  • Which Fault gives Reach. Destructoid ties it to the Evacuation Zone. Check your ability list before relying on that.
  • The final Gap visit, which only one source describes (see above).
  • Whether you have to do the zones in a set order. The sources list them in story order, but none says the order is enforced.

Checked against the sources below on September 23, 2026. The Downtown steps were matched to PS5 Pro gameplay footage: toy pickup at about 0:32, the quest banner at about 0:49 and petting from about 1:24. The other zones rely on the written guides. We will replace this note with our own screenshots once each location is captured.
