The official number
Remedy’s press release on October 15, 2026 says worldwide sales of CONTROL Resonant have passed one million copies, the fastest of any game in the company’s history. It does not split the figure by platform or edition.
CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon: “One million copies is a very strong start.” He notes that it is Remedy’s first self-published release at this scale and that it launched in a crowded release window, and adds: “There is a lot more to come from these worlds.” Remedy now treats Control and Alan Wake as its two established franchises.
The number counts copies sold, not players. Remedy has not published a newer figure since October 15. Comment-section claims of 2 million or more are unverified.
How it compares
| Game | Milestone | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Control Resonant (2026) | 1 million in about 3 weeks | Remedy |
| Alan Wake 2 (2023) | 1 million in about two months | Push Square |
| Control (2019) | More than a year to pass 2 million | KitGuru |
| Control, lifetime | More than 6 million as of March 2026 | KitGuru |
Two things helped. Alan Wake 2 launched on PC only through the Epic Games Store, while Resonant is on Steam and Epic from day one (Push Square). The disc only arrived on October 15, so boxed sales barely count yet; see the physical release and SteelBook pages.
Steam player count
Inderes, the analyst firm that covers Remedy, reported a Steam peak of 40,842 concurrent players over the launch weekend, with 30,000 to 40,000 during peak hours, and said the game was among the best sellers on both Steam and the PlayStation Store. SteamDB’s own 10-minute samples recorded 31,848 on September 25, so expect small differences between trackers.
For context, Control Ultimate Edition peaked at 9,193 on Steam after its 2020 release (SteamDB, via TechSpot). Console numbers are not public. If you are deciding where to buy, see Control Resonant on Steam and the Denuvo check.
Analyst estimates
On September 28, Inderes kept its forecast of about 1.1 million copies in Q3, 1.9 million in 2026 and 2.2 million in 2027. Passing a million by mid-October puts the game roughly on that track. Remedy’s next financial report should be the first to show revenue from the launch.
Sales also shape what comes next. No DLC is announced; the roadmap so far is New Game++, Photo Mode in November and more cosmetics (DLC status). Critics’ scores are on the Metacritic page.
